Review Trifecta! Ed and Jake take on virtual reality, romance gone wrong and paranoid surveillance experts!

Look at those two lovable cinebriates right there! Don't worry, you can trust them they're pros.*

I guess threatening your reviewers with Natty Ice is a pretty damn effective way to get results. Are we proud of our methods? No, but we won't argue with results!

Ed has two new reviews for your viewing pleasure! First up is the 1992 campy and heavily dated virtual reality flick The Lawnmower Man. He found it fairly enjoyable ... but probably not for the reasons the filmmaker's intended, plug in and check out his review right here

In an effort to clean out his overflowing Netflix Instant Queue in an entertaining way Ed has decided to put the movie streaming revolver to his head and pull the trigger with the first of what will be many "Streaming Roulette" reviews. If it's in the queue it's fair game and there's no telling what cinematic bullet will blast into his skull! This time it's 1990's romance gone wrong flick Evidence of Love ... did Ed survive? Check out his review here!

But wait, there's more! Jake's back with his review of Francis Ford Coppola's other 1974 film The Conversation starring a paranoid Gene Hackman. Did Jake dig the slow-burning thriller? Listen in to his thoughts right here!

*Only in the very loosest terms of the word that will not hold up in any court outside of Australia ... and maybe Singapore.

Ed takes a double hit of Spike Lee joints in his ongoing director retrospective series!

No, not that kind of joint you hippie!

When it comes to Spike Lee flicks (or "joints" as the director labels them) you really do have to look beyond the surface to get the most out of the social commentary at play. So when The Talking Ed decided to take on not one but two of them in his ongoing "Speaking in Tongues" column we new it was going to be good ... little did we know how great!

Check out Ed's thoughts on 1994's Crooklyn over here and puff-puff-pass over to 2002's The 25th Hour right here (it stars another Ed, we figured it was worth mentioning)!

Also, if you haven't figured it out by now Ed is kind of a Talking Heads fanatic, we try not to encourage it too much though ...

Ed breaks out the whiskey and spurs ... High Noon reviewed!

Draw!

Ed figures it's about time he checks out the classic Gary Cooper Western and with a bottle of some of that fancy five dollar whiskey that he enjoys so much by his side he takes aim at High Noon. What he finds is a tense and layered film but will either Cooper or Felt survive the nailbitin' showdown countdown?!

*TICK*TOCK*TICK*TOCK

I reckon Ed will break and end up a few bullets shy of full load ... Saddle up pard' and find out if I'm right with Ed's review of High Noon right over yonder!

Ed splits cab fare with Tom Cruise and gets more than he bargained for ... Collateral reviewed!

Ed checks in on another Michael Mannsterpiece™ with the stylish 2004 killer-thriller Collateral starring a prematurally greying Tom Cruise and an initially scared sh*tless Jaimie Foxx, after profusely apologizing for his Cinebriated hiatus of course.

Jake goes for the hard NC-17 and reviews Killer Joe!

A few weeks back all of the Cinebriates found themselves in beautiful overcast Seattle, Washington for the Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF for those in the know) and between bouts of binge drinking they actually managed to catch a screening of a few flicks!

One such film just happened to be legendary director William Friedkin's NC-17 deep-fried dark comedy-noir Killer Joe and Jake wanted seconds! Now that Killer Joe has actually received a limited theatrical release what better time to grab a bucket of the colonel's original recipe and check out his review?
